Estonian adventure. Ted and Andy were two backpackers from Canada, who had decided to embark on a European adventure. They had heard about the beautiful landscapes, the rich culture, and the delicious cuisine that awaited them in Europe, and they were eager to explore it all. They had packed their bags with everything they needed, including a tent, sleeping bags, and a trusty map, and were ready for their journey.
Their first stop was Estonia, a small country in Northern Europe, known for its picturesque towns, dense forests, and fascinating history. Ted and Andy had heard that Estonia was a hidden gem, and they were excited to discover everything it had to offer.
After a long flight, they finally arrived at the airport in Tallinn, on of the Estonian Airports – the capital city of Estonia. As they stepped out of the plane, they felt a cool breeze on their faces, and breathed in the fresh air. They looked around, taking in the sights and sounds of this new place, and felt a sense of adventure stirring in their hearts.
From the Tallin airport to the old world
They collected their bags and headed to the taxi stand, eager to start their exploration of Estonia. The taxi driver was a friendly man, who spoke good English, and he gave them some tips on where to go and what to see. They thanked him and stepped out of the taxi, ready to start their adventure.
Their first stop was the historic Old Town of Tallinn, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its medieval streets, ancient walls, and picturesque buildings. They walked around, taking pictures, and admiring the beauty of this ancient city.
As they walked, they noticed a small airplane flying overhead. They looked up, fascinated by the sight, and wondered where it was going. The taxi driver had mentioned that Estonia had many small airports, and they were curious to see one.
Smallest airport in Estonia
They asked around and found out that the smallest airport in Estonia was located in a small town called Kihnu, on an island off the coast of the mainland. Both of them decided to go there and check it out.
They took a bus to the port, where they boarded a ferry to the island. The ferry ride was a bit rough, but they enjoyed the scenic views of the Baltic Sea. As they arrived on the island, they felt a sense of excitement, as they were about to see the smallest airport in Estonia.
The boys walked around the town, which was small but charming, with colorful houses and friendly locals. They asked around and found out that the airport was a small airstrip, located outside the town. They decided to walk there, as it was not too far.
As they walked, they noticed that the town was getting smaller and smaller, and the surroundings were becoming more rural. They passed by farms, fields, and forests, and felt a bit lost. They looked at their map, but it didn’t show the airport.

Friendly farmer
They decided to ask for directions, and they met a friendly farmer, who spoke in Estonian, a language they didn’t understand. They tried to communicate with him using gestures and broken English, but it didn’t work.
Bth of them were getting frustrated, and they started to argue, blaming each other for getting lost. Ted said, “I told you we should have rented a car, but you wanted to save money and walk.” Andy replied, “I didn’t know it was this far, you should have checked the map properly.”
As they argued, they didn’t notice that they had wandered off the road, and were now walking in a muddy field. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise, and turned around to see a tractor coming towards them. They panicked and ran, trying to get out of the way.
They finally reached the airport, out of breath and covered in mud. They looked around, and saw a small shed, with a sign that read “Airport Office”.
Why are you here
Ted and Andy approached the shed and knocked on the door. A middle-aged man opened the door and looked at them curiously. “Can we help you?” he asked in Estonian.
“We are looking for the smallest airport in Estonia. Is this it?” Andy asked, trying to communicate in English.
The man nodded and smiled. “Yes, this is it. But why are you here?”
“We are backpackers, and we wanted to see the smallest airport in Estonia,” Ted explained.
The man chuckled. “Well, you found it. But there are no flights scheduled today. The next one is tomorrow.”
Ted and Andy looked at each other, disappointed. They had come all this way to see the smallest airport in Estonia, and there were no flights scheduled.
Personal touch
The man noticed their disappointment and said, “But I can give you a tour of the airport if you want.”
Ted and Andy’s faces lit up. “Really? That would be great!” they said in unison.
The man led them to a small building, where he showed them the control tower, the runway, and the small planes parked outside. He explained how the airport operated and answered their questions patiently.
As they walked around the airport, they noticed that it was quiet and peaceful. They saw a few planes taking off and landing, and heard the sound of the engines.
Suddenly, they heard a loud noise, and turned around to see a small plane coming towards them. They panicked and ran, thinking that the plane was going to crash into them.

But the plane landed smoothly, and a young man stepped out of it. He looked at Ted and Andy and asked, “Are you guys okay?”
Ted and Andy looked at him, confused. “Yeah, we are fine. Why?”
The man chuckled. “You guys ran away like you were being chased by a monster. I was just landing my plane.”
Ted and Andy felt embarrassed and apologized. The man introduced himself as Martti and offered to take them for a ride in his plane.
Ted and Andy’s eyes lit up. They had never been in a small plane before, and they were excited to experience it.
They climbed into the plane, and Martti explained how to fasten their seat belts and put on their headsets. He started the engine, and the plane taxied towards the runway.
As the plane took off, Ted and Andy felt a rush of adrenaline. They looked out of the window and saw the beautiful landscape of Estonia below them. They saw forests, fields, lakes, and rivers, and felt a sense of awe.
Martti flew the plane around the island, showing them the sights and pointing out the landmarks. He told them stories about Estonia and its people, and they listened attentively.
Smallest airport in Estonia
As the plane landed back at the smallest airport in Estonia, Ted and Andy felt a sense of exhilaration. They thanked Martti for the ride and the tour and said goodbye.
As they walked back to the town, they realized that getting lost and finding the smallest airport in Estonia had been an adventure in itself. Andy and Ted laughed about their arguments, their muddy clothes, and their fear of the plane.
They spent the rest of their time in Estonia exploring the beautiful countryside, trying the delicious food, and meeting friendly people. They took a lot of pictures and made a lot of memories.
As they boarded their flight back to Canada, they looked at each other and smiled. They knew that they had experienced something special, something that they would never forget. They had traveled to a faraway land, seen the smallest airport in Estonia, and made a new friend. And that was what traveling was all about.

Andy blushed but couldn’t hide his happiness. “I met someone, Ted. Her name is Kristina, and she’s amazing.”
Ted grinned. “I knew it! You’re in love, dude.”

The boy had been studying Estonian every day since he had returned to Canada, and he was excited to practice speaking it with her. He had also researched Estonian culture and history, and he had a newfound appreciation for the country.

They spent the next few weeks exploring Estonia together. They visited museums, went to concerts, and tried new foods. Andy was impressed by how knowledgeable Kristina was about Estonian culture, and he felt like he was learning so much from her.
Canadian … or Estonian dreams?
One day, they went to a secluded beach on the coast. They walked along the shore, picking up shells and talking about their dreams. As they sat on the sand, watching the sunset, Andy knew that he had to tell her how he felt.
“Kristina, I know we’ve only known each other for a short time, but I feel like I’ve known you forever,” he said, taking her hand in his. “I think I’m in love with you.”
Kristina looked at him, her eyes shining. “Andy, I feel the same way. I didn’t want to say anything too soon, but I love you too.”
They hugged and kissed, feeling a sense of joy and relief. They spent the rest of their time in Estonia as a couple, exploring the country and getting to know each other even better.
When it was time for Andy to return to Canada, they promised to stay in touch and continue their relationship long-distance. They knew it wouldn’t be easy, but they were willing to make it work.
