Edwin Horowith was a young man from Amman, Jordan, who had just finished a successful business trip in Helsinki, Finland. He had spent the week meeting with potential clients and partners, and he was feeling optimistic about the future of his company. However, as he arrived at Helsinki Airport for his flight back to Amman, he encountered a problem that would derail his plans and lead to a series of unexpected events.
As Edwin made his way through security, he noticed that his carry-on bag felt lighter than it should have been. He opened it up and realized with a sinking feeling that his laptop and important documents were missing. He quickly retraced his steps through the airport, but he couldn’t find the missing items anywhere. After hours of searching, he had to accept the fact that his luggage had been lost.
Edwin was in a panic. The documents and files on his laptop were essential to the success of his business, and he couldn’t afford to lose them. He approached the airport staff and explained his situation, hoping that they could help him locate his lost luggage. They took down his information and promised to contact him as soon as they had any updates.
A few days in Helsinki
Edwin spent the next few days in Helsinki, waiting anxiously for news about his luggage. He had to cancel his flight back to Amman and book a new one for a few days later, which was expensive and inconvenient. He tried to distract himself with sightseeing and local cuisine, but his mind was consumed with worry about his missing items.
But he also start to consider search flights back from another Finland airports in the Nordic country.
As the days went by, Edwin grew increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in locating his lost luggage. He made countless phone calls and sent numerous emails to the airport staff, but he couldn’t seem to get any answers. He started to feel like he was in a nightmare that he couldn’t wake up from.
One afternoon, while Edwin was wandering around the city, he received a call from the airport staff. They had located his luggage! Edwin was overjoyed and relieved. He rushed back to the airport to collect his bag and was surprised to find that it had been opened and some of its contents had been tampered with. His laptop and documents were still missing.
Edwin was outraged. How could someone have stolen his valuable items from his luggage? He demanded answers from the airport staff and the local police, but no one seemed to have any leads. He felt violated and betrayed, and he was losing hope that he would ever recover his lost items.

Black market in Helsinki …?
One day, while Edwin was sitting in a café, feeling dejected and defeated, he struck up a conversation with an elderly Finnish man who was sitting at the next table. The man asked Edwin what was troubling him, and Edwin explained his story. The man listened sympathetically and then suggested that Edwin try a local market where stolen goods were sometimes sold.
Edwin was skeptical, but he was also desperate. He decided to follow the man’s advice and visit the market. As he wandered through the stalls, he kept his eyes peeled for any sign of his missing items. Just as he was about to give up hope, he saw something that made his heart leap with excitement. There, on a table, was his laptop and some of his important documents!
Edwin couldn’t believe his luck. He approached the vendor and demanded to know where he had obtained the stolen goods. The vendor claimed that he had bought them from someone who had found them abandoned at the airport. Edwin knew that this was a lie, but he also knew that he couldn’t waste any time arguing with the man.
Finnish Police in action
He quickly called the local police, who arrived on the scene and took the vendor into custody. Edwin was able to recover his laptop and documents, and he felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He was grateful to the elderly man who had given him the tip about the market, and he invited him to a café to thank him properly. The man introduced himself as Eero, and the two struck up a conversation about their lives and interests.
A mister nice guy … Eero
Eero was a retired history professor who had lived in Helsinki his entire life. He was fascinated by the culture and traditions of Jordan and had always dreamed of visiting the country. Edwin was happy to share his knowledge and experiences of Jordan with Eero, and the two quickly became friends.
Over the next few days, Eero showed Edwin around the city, taking him to museums, art galleries, and restaurants that he had never visited before. They spent long hours discussing history, politics, and philosophy, and Edwin felt like he had found a kindred spirit in Eero.

As the day of Edwin’s departure approached, he felt a sense of sadness at the thought of leaving his new friend behind. Eero, too, was feeling emotional about saying goodbye to Edwin, and he made a surprising offer.
“Edwin, I know that you have been through a lot in the past few days, and I want to make it up to you,” he said. “Why don’t you come and visit me in Helsinki sometime? I would love to show you more of my city and introduce you to my family and friends.”
Edwin was taken aback by the offer but also deeply touched. He knew that it would be difficult for him to take time off work to visit Helsinki again, but he didn’t want to let Eero down.
“I would love to come and visit you, Eero,” he said. “But I’m not sure when I will be able to make it happen.”
Eero smiled warmly. “Don’t worry, my friend. I have a feeling that our paths will cross again soon.”
On the way to Amman
As Edwin boarded his flight back to Amman in Jordan, he felt a sense of gratitude and contentment that he hadn’t felt in a long time. Despite the stressful and chaotic events of the past week, he had made a new friend and had experienced the kindness and generosity of strangers.
Over the next few months, Edwin continued to correspond with Eero through email and phone calls. He even managed to take a short break from work to visit Helsinki again and spend time with Eero and his family. The two friends continued to learn from each other and share their perspectives on life, and Edwin felt like he had gained a new perspective on the world. Once they both meet in Ejlat on Israeli airport in the country.
In the end, Edwin realized that losing his luggage in Helsinki had been a blessing in disguise. It had led him to meet Eero and discover a new friendship that had enriched his life in countless ways. He had learned that sometimes the most unexpected and challenging events can lead to the most rewarding and meaningful experiences, and he was grateful for every moment of his journey.
A strange twist at the end
As Edwin was settling into his seat on the plane back to Amman, he felt a sudden jolt of panic in his stomach. He had just realized that he had packed two valuable diamonds in his missing luggage, worth a fortune on the black market.
Edwin had been entrusted with the diamonds by a wealthy Jordanian businessman, who had asked him to deliver them to a buyer in Helsinki. Edwin had hesitated at first, knowing that carrying such valuable items could be dangerous, but the businessman had promised him a large sum of money in exchange for his services.
Now, as Edwin realized that his luggage had been lost, he felt sick with worry. He knew that if the diamonds fell into the wrong hands, he could be in serious trouble.
As soon as he arrived back in Amman, Edwin contacted the businessman and explained the situation. The businessman was furious and demanded that Edwin fly back to Helsinki immediately to try and retrieve the diamonds.
Edwin knew that it was a risky move, but he felt that he had no choice. He booked the next available flight to Helsinki and spent several days searching through lost luggage at the airport, hoping to find his own bag.
Call from the airport staff
Finally, on the third day, he received a call from the airport staff. They had found his bag, and it was waiting for him at the lost luggage office.
Edwin rushed to the airport, his heart pounding with anticipation. He was relieved to see his bag, untouched and unopened, and he quickly checked the contents.
To his horror, he realized that the diamonds were missing.

He immediately reported the theft to the airport authorities and the police, but he knew that it was unlikely that the diamonds would ever be recovered.
As he made his way back to his hotel, feeling defeated and dejected, he received a call from an unknown number.
“Hello, Edwin,” said a voice on the other end. “I have your diamonds.”
Followed by the mafia
Edwin’s heart raced as the voice explained that he was a member of a powerful international crime syndicate, and that they had been monitoring his movements since he had arrived in Helsinki.
The voice offered to return the diamonds to Edwin, but only if he agreed to work for the syndicate and use his connections in Jordan to help them with their criminal activities. Edwin was terrified but knew that he had no choice. He agreed to the terms, and the voice instructed him to meet a contact at a local café the next day to receive the diamonds.
As Edwin sat in the café, waiting for his contact, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was making a terrible mistake. He knew that he was getting in over his head, but he also knew that he had to get the diamonds back.
Suddenly, he saw Eero walking towards him, and his heart sank. He knew that he couldn’t involve his new friend in his criminal dealings, and he desperately tried to signal to Eero to stay away.
To late baby …
But it was too late. Eero had already seen him, and he approached the table with a confused look on his face.
“Edwin, what are you doing here?” he asked.
Edwin was at a loss for words, and he stammered out an excuse about a business meeting.
Eero looked skeptical but didn’t press the issue. He wished Edwin luck and walked away.
As Edwin waited for his contact to arrive, he realized that he had made a terrible mistake. He knew that he had jeopardized his friendship with Eero and put himself in danger by getting involved with the crime syndicate.
But as he looked down at the diamonds in his hand, he also knew that he had no choice but to keep going. He had to find a way to get out of this mess and keep the diamonds safe, no matter what it took.
